Five Reasons to Go to Disney World Solo

Why would a grown adult go to Disney World by themselves?

Because it is AWESOME
Although Disney World is seen as a place for kids, Disney was designed as a place for adults to enjoy as much as children. In 1963, Walt Disney said the ratio of adults to children at the Disneyland park was 4:1. He said that on weekdays, often there were hardly any children there at all! Therefore, despite the reputation Disney Adults get, adults were always the primary audience for the Disney parks! And what of going alone as a Disney Adult?!? Well, that is even more fun!

Here are five reasons to go to Disney World by yourself

1. There are many things to do and eat in a fun and safe environment
As I discussed in the podcast, the Walt Disney World Resort property is essentially a city-sized hotel that is same size as San Francisco. It includes six Parks (including the water parks), 25 hotels, over 400 restaurants. Disney World is its own world that is managed and cultivated well. This makes Disney World an incredibly safe place to travel, especially as a woman. It also makes it an incredibly safe place to experiment, try new things, and engage in self discovery. I've eaten and and done things at Disney that I've never done anywhere else! I got this shirt to go horseback riding at Fort Wilderness Lodge! (Amazon paid link)

2. There are many activities just for adults
Even if you're used to going to Disney with your kids, going alone as an adult will open up a whole new world of options for you!:
  • Interested in a behind-the-scenes tour of Magic Kingdom? The Keys to the Kingdom tour is 16+!
  • Explore the savannah at night? The Starlight Safari at Animal Kingdom Lodget is 8+ and has a 10pm start time for even fewer little ones!
  • Want to learn the history of Sangria while making your own? Sangria University is 21+!
  • Like listening to music and singing along with a whole group of likeminded people? Jellyrolls is a 21+ dueling piano bar that may be right for you!
  • How about reading a book right in the middle of Epcot? The new World Celebration Gardens have so many shady places to sit. I've loved reading this book during my last trip! (Amazon paid link)

3. You have the flexibility to plan a day with only you in mind
Want to sleep in and go to Magic Kingdom to only eat Mickey Bars and ride It's A Small World?
You do you, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!
Solo travel means that you get to choose how your day unfolds. You don't have to worry about others' preferences, hunger, energy levels. You can do as much, or as little, as you want! And, as many have said in their Solo Stories, you can also just take your time and soak in all that Disney has to offer! Bring your camera and capture all the hidden details that will remind you of the day(s) you planned just for you! (Amazon paid link)

4. Easier to Manage
If you looked into a Disney vacation during the last few years, you know that a Disney vacation can be complicated: Genie+, virtual queues, Lighting Lanes, Park reservations, Dining reservations, the heat!, hurricanes.... It all can be a lot. And figuring all this out with others can be even more pressure.
But there is a greater ease to figuring this out (maybe with the help of Cast Members!) when you go by yourself!

5. Disney Therapy

Disney is a place layered with feelings, memories, and experiences. When you're there by yourself, you can tap into those thoughts and feels and to put your life into perspective. Or put that life - with all its troubles and worries - aside. Or you might connect with family and friends who are no longer with us. Or maybe you can give your inner child experiences it never got. Do some journaling and reflect on why D - I - S - N - E - Y may spell "therapy" for you! This Villains journal is so cool and this journal is designed for Disney travel (Amazon paid links)! Where in our daily life can we engage in this reflection in such a happy and magical place?!

So dive right in! Get some Mickey ears, a LoungeFly backpack (Amazon paid link), fancy Disney jewelry (Amazon paid link), and your appetite and have the most MAGICAL solo trip to Disney World!
