Helpful products to prepare for the summer weather at Disney World

What are some helpful products that can help you prepare for the summer weather at Disney?

It is important to prepare for the hot, humid, and rainy summer weather in Florida. Here are some products I use or recommend to help you prepare for your solo trip to Disney World this summer!

In this week's episode of the Solo Magic podcast, I talk about preparing for summer and suggest getting the things you need to stay cool(ish), dry(ish), and comfortable (enough) for your solo trip to Disney World. Some products include:

SunscreenSpray sunscreen is essential for solo travel to make sure you cover your back! Using a separate, less greasy one for your face is smart too! Also, don't get burned in the Parks. Keep some sunscreen in your bag if you're unable to go back to your resort.

Water: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! I find that SmartWater or any electrolyte charged water is worth the price. You can order ahead of time and stock your resort fridge for your whole stay. Also, this Cucumber Mint SmartWater is the most delicious water I've ever tasted and I've only had it once: At the glorious MCO airport!

Electrolytes: Getting some electrolyte enhancer, either as liquid drops or powder, can be important to keep at your resort and in your purse to stay charged throughout the day.

Water bottle: Bringing a reusable bottle into the Parks with you, means that you always have a vessel handy to fill up and hydrate. When I went with a boyfriend 15 years ago, we got one with a clip that we could keep on his backpack. It was great! I don't wear a backpack when I go into the Parks solo, but love this collapsible bottle to keep in my purse for use all day. Of course, there is always the Stanley!

Hat: I love these wide brimmed hats with top cut out for my hair to keep me both shaded and stylish! Getting a Minnie-inspired visor would be pretty cool too! My mom got one on our 2020 trip.

Sunglasses: Getting a new pair of sunnies will be great for your eyes and your pics! I'm always partial to a cat-eye, especially Minnie-inspired ones! (There are also Ursula ones... Beast ones... Snow White ones....! Please send me a picture if you get these! I need inspiration to be brave enough to wear them on my next solo trip!)

Parasol: I used a parasol on my last trip and it was a game changer for staying cool and shaded in the hot hot sun! This one would be great for strolling around Epcot, don't you think?!

UV umbrella: ClaireFreedomStein loved using a UV umbrella like this one on her last sunny trip to Disney!

Neck fan: This fan that you wear around your neck was such a game changer when I used it last August! Make sure you clean it every night so it doesn't get sticky with sweat and sunscreen.

Electric hand fan: Having an electric fan you can pick up and put down can help you pace yourself throughout the day (but please don't buy this one! Listen to the podcast episode for the NSFW reason why!).

Paper fans: If you want to have a fan for each outfit, look into paper/bamboo hand fans. You can usually get a colourful pack to match all your outfits at a good price!

Deodorant: My favourite is Secret! Classic! However, I'll also use a natural anti-perspirant on other parts of my body if I want to curtail sweating under my dresses. I find it less chalky than the popular aluminum brands.

PowderBaby powder is also one of my hot must-haves! I also tried a Gold Bond powder when I was there last and liked this as an option too.

Under-skirt shorts: Staying cool, comfortable, and dry under your skirts and dresses is ESSENTIAL to having a good day! These are the ones Molly from Mammoth Club has recommended from Target and I use nothing else.

Sandals: My number one favourite Disney sandal is the Skechers' mediation rhinestone sandal! I've bought multiple pair and have never needed anything else. Buy them. Enjoy them.

Bandaids: Its never a bad idea to come prepared with some bandaids, especially blister bandaids if you're working in new shoes.

Raincoat: Expect rain everyday in hot humid Florida weather. A long raincoat or rain poncho will be a day-saver for you. I can get my raincoat in this LoungeFly purse, which is a double win: cute and practical.

Rain boots: If it is going to rain during your whole trip, a pair of ankle rain boots can be great. Not too tall to make your legs hot, but tall enough to keep you dry.

After sun: At the end of a hot, sunny, humid day, take care of your skin! After sun cream is an important post-day product to keep your skin hydrated and ward off sunburn. But, hey, you can also use a post-sun face mask to be extra fancy. The goal is Baby Yoda not elder Yoda! ;)
